My Falun Friends is a realistic novel told through the eyes of a lifelong friend and witness. It is a story about faith, family, dignity, resilience, and hope.
Narrated in the first person, the novel follows the lives of Fang Hua, a journalist and former national youth wrestling silver medalist; Yu Hong, a physician educated at Beijing Medical University; Zhang Song, a respected associate professor of medicine; and Liu Li, a dedicated schoolteacher. Once leading stable and accomplished lives, the two families find themselves facing profound personal and professional upheaval after remaining committed to their spiritual beliefs.
As careers are interrupted, identities reshaped, and their children confront unexpected challenges, each family is forced to reconsider the meaning of integrity, responsibility, and perseverance.
With assistance from international human rights organizations, they eventually begin new lives in the United States. In an unfamiliar country, they must rebuild everything—from language and employment to professional identity and a renewed sense of belonging. Their journey is marked not by dramatic triumphs, but by quiet endurance, mutual support, and the determination to preserve their humanity.
